CSEA 2022-2023 REVIEW
We all have had the problem where we never knew about the upcoming events of different clubs. Every club conducts a lot of events throughout the year that most of the people are unaware of. To solve this problem I am dropping these posts here that are reviews for all the different events that all clubs conducted last year.
DEVATHON
Date : 16 September 2022
To bring out the developers in NITW students, CSEA in collaboration with WSDC conducted Devathon. This hackathon not only provided the chance to showcase the web development skills of the students but also presented as an opportunity for them to part of the official WSDC team. The event was graced by the chief guest, Mr. Ankit Goyal (alumni - class of 2013) who was also the initiator of WSDC.
Devathon was a 24 hours long event. The event had a positive turnout of 240 students who were grouped into teams by WSDC. The teams were then given the problem statements from which one was to be selected and worked on. Two checkpoints were to be passed in which mentors provided feedbacks on the progress that the teams have made so far. The finalists then presented their projects to the judges.
Among the numerous finalists, the following teams secured top positions:

Open Source Workshop
Date : 14 October 2022 - 15 October 2022
This workshop was not focused on any particular section of students but was to enlighten the students of NITW about the culture of Open Source.
In this event, various members of CSEA explained the use of Open Source, how it helps in building skills, and how we can give back to the community through it. The session mainly focused on the usage of git to collaborate with unknown people or organizations to make a working application that can benefit people around the world.
Hacktoberfest was also introduced as a competition that they can take part in by enrolling and doing certain tasks taught in the session.
The session ended with the successful submission of an assignment by all the students.

2+4 MIXER
Date : 28 September 2022
As the name suggests, this event was conducted so that the sophomores of CSE branch of NITW can interact with the final years and gain knowledge about the hurdles in college and after that.
The final years of CSE who are placed in good companies such as Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, and other established companies with on-site experience were called to have a few words with the promising future batch of CSE branch to provide guidance in multiple fields that the seniors have excelled in CSE.
The session ended with a QNA.

CODEMON
Date : 7 November 2022 - 2 February 2023
CSEA conducted Codemon sessions and contests to prepare 2nd year B.Tech Students for their intern drive. Codemon series focused on DSA topics and contests with questions on various Data Structures, starting from recursion, stacks, and queues to complex topics such as trees, graphs, and bit manipulation. Contests were held after each session on previously taught topics so that the students could learn and understand each topic more thoroughly and apply it in a competitive environment like Online Test/Assessments (OT/OA) which are critical parts of the intern drive. The contest was held in the Computer Science department labs, and hacker rank was used to host the actual contests to give the students an idea of the real environment of OT/OA.

Know Your Branch
Date : 14 December 2022
This event was conducted to ease the first years of Computer Science and Engineering (MCA and B.Tech) into the growing fields of Technology. In this event, they were introduced to the emerging fields of technology such as Machine Learning, Web Development, etc. and also to the World of Competitive Programming and how it helps in building their problem-solving skills.
Several competitions conducted by Big companies (MNCs) were also introduced to them such as Google's Summer of Code (GSoC), CodeJam, Meta Hacker Cup, and many others where they can participate and showcase their talent.
This event also shined some light on the future prospects of CSE and the importance of internships in their careers and how they can prepare for them using the resources available to them on the internet and the wisdom passed by the alumni of our prestigious college.
The female-specific options such as UBER SHE++, DE SHAW ASCEND, etc. were also discussed.

Intern Talks
Date : 16 March 2023 - 10 April 2023
CSEA conducted an event to help 3rd year BTech CSE students prepare for their upcoming summer internships. The event involved compiling a list of all the companies where the current 3rd-year students had secured internships after which the current final-year students who interned at these particular companies were contacted. Multiple meeting sessions were organized in the period of 1 month to address all the different companies that the students would be soon interning at. The sessions helped the third years to get and idea on making the best use of their upcoming internships as well as prepare for Pre-Placement Offer (PPOs). The event successfully provided valuable insights to the 3rd-year students and helped them prepare for the internships.

Technozion '22
Trial By Code
Date : 16 December 2022 - 17 December 2022
This event was conducted for 2 days in Technozion 2022 for all the coding enthusiasts. As it was NITW's biggest Tech Fest, CSEA tried to introduce competitive programming with a healthy dose of competition. On the first day of the event, on-the-spot registrations were also allowed in order to incorporate as many students as possible to give them a taste of competitive programming. The competition was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, there was a faceoff between two participants, who were provided with the same problem statements. Whoever solves the question first or passes the minimum number of test cases wins.
In phase 2, the top 10 shortlisted students were again asked to participate in the coding battle. The students were competing in pairs of two, and this time the difficulty level of questions was increased as compared to the previous round. The top three participants of this round were announced as the winners of the event TRIAL BY CODE.

FOUR PI
Date : 17 December 2022
One of the most anticipated events that CSEA conducted this year was FOUR PI, a murder mystery that tickled the detective brains of NITW students and gave everyone their "Sherlock Moment" and the chance to use their "Mind Palace". This event was in collaboration with the News and Magazine Committee. Students were allowed to participate in teams of 3 or 4. They were provided with a puzzling story, and they had to find clues and solve the puzzle. The clues were hidden at different locations on campus.
The competition began at the new academic building. Participants were provided with some initial clues and a brief introduction about the characters of the story. At the end of the competition, they had to answer the questions asked by the CSEA team. Answers were submitted on paper to the CSEA team. The top three teams with the correct and more accurate answers win the game. We received a huge number of participants for the event, and it was a great success.

Cloud Quest
Date : 18 December 2022
Cloud computing is everywhere today. It has made data sharing and data storage very easy and comfortable. That was more than enough reason for CSEA to take the initiative to educate the students about cloud computing in South India's biggest Tech Fest Technozion. CSEA collaborated with Amazon AWS to inform the students about cloud quest, an RPG game-based learning system for learning beginner level cloud skills with ease. The event started with an AWS specialist addressing the students and clearing all of their doubts. The winners of the event were awarded handsome cash prizes.

Quizmass
Date : 21 December 2022 - 25 December 2022
Around the time of Christmas, a 5-day online quiz on technical themes was conducted, to promote out-of-the-box thinking and critical analysis. Each day, a question was posted on the official CSEA Instagram account and the one with the highest number of correct responses was declared the winner. A large number of responses were received each day of Quizmass and had a positive response overall.

Web-Dev Workshop
Date : 6 February 2023 (Backend) and 7 February 2023 (Frontend)
On popular demand for guidance in the area of Web Development, we conducted a Web Development focused workshop over the span of two days, covering Frontend and Backend Development with MERN stack. The workshop was conducted by association members, who excelled in the field of web development, in the form of three-hour sprints over two days.
Important topics such as API testing and integration were covered during the workshop in order to prepare students for our flagship event, the Tri-NIT Hackathon, and boost the performance and participation of students from NITW. The workshop attracted a large audience on both days and was an overwhelming success.

TRI-NIT Hackathon
Date : 10 February 2023 - 12 February 2023
The TRINIT Hackathon by CSEA NIT Warangal, ACM NIT Surathkal and SPIDER NIT Trichy collaboratively, brought together some of the brightest minds from all over India to solve pressing problems related to sustainability. Over the course of 36 hours, students worked tirelessly to develop innovative solutions using cutting-edge technologies and approaches. The hackathon was sponsored by BlueLearn, BharatX, Qualcomm, Postman, UnStop and Gradvine.
The hackathon was divided into four different tracks, each with its own set of unique problem statements.

Straight Outta CSED (SOCD)
Straight Outta CSED is the platform through which CSEA interacts with some of our professors, students, and alumni who’ve been in the CSE sphere, hence giving an exposure to different ideas, skill sets, and perspectives, and also creates a lasting impact on the reader’s mind.
CSEA - SOC team interacted with-
Ranjit Kulkarni an alumnus who after 2 decades of corporate life as a consultant ventured out to pursue his dreams of becoming an author. With a collection of work that strikes the chords of our hearts, his story inspires us to pursue our passions.
Ridam Upadhyay, co-founder and CTO of Grotto opened up to us about his challenges with his startup, the vision and goals of his company, and the startup culture in India. His zeal ignited all who wanted to explore and revolutionize the world as they know it.

Noobathon and Bootcamp
In order to guide the freshers into exploring the extent of their development skills and interests, CSEA conducted its flagship Front End Hackathon – Noobathon.
Noobathon boot camp:
Observing a slight hesitance in freshers to venture into the unknown domain of web development in past years, this year CSEA decided to take initiative and conduct a frontend development boot camp prior to the hackathon. The attendees were guided through Github, HTML, CSS, and Javascript in an online session to get them ready and equipped with the basic skill set.
Noobathon hackathon:
This hackathon provided them an opportunity to test their skills, learn new ones, and work on some exciting projects. It was a 20 hours offline event where the participants could work in teams to build the front end of a website based on their chosen problem statement. The instructions and regular checkpoints were mediated by voluntary mentors from 2nd and 3rd years.

With an enthusiastic turnout of 39 teams, the event produced some really appreciable prototypes and received tremendous positive feedback.

Acing the Intern Drive
Date : 23 January 2023
CSEA had organized an event called "Acing The Intern Drive" for the 2nd year batch. The main objective of the event was to prepare the students for the upcoming intern drive. With the job market becoming increasingly competitive, it is essential for students to be well-equipped to face such challenges. The event was aimed at providing them with necessary guidance and tools to help them stand out among their peers during the internship selection process.
The event was divided into two parts. The first part consisted of a resume building workshop, which aimed to teach the students to prepare their resumes effectively. With the help of our experienced seniors of CSEA, the students learned the basics of resume building and how to make a resume outdo the rest. The second part of the event was a mock online test, which aimed to prepare the students for the internship selection process. The contest was designed to simulate the online tests that students usually have to take during the selection process. The students who participated found it to be extremely helpful in preparing for the upcoming intern drive.

Fresher's Fiesta

The CSE Association (CSEA) hosted a fabulous "Freshers' Fiesta" for the first-year CSE students.
The evening kickstarted with a spectacular dance performance by the CSEA members. The highlights of the event was for sure the dance and singing performances by some of the first-years, who put on an amazing show. In addition to the entertainment, the party also featured interactive sessions and games that allowed students to mingle and get to know each other. There were photo booths set up where the students could take pictures with their friends and capture the memories of the evening. The event also marked the first round of the yearly selection for Mr. and Ms. CSEA.
Overall, the freshers' Fiesta saw enthusiastic participation of all the students. It was an unforgettable evening that set the tone for the rest of the academic year.

Intra Department Sports
Date : January 2023 - February 2023
The CSE Association (CSEA) has organized an exciting event exclusive to the CSE students - the Intra Department Sports. The event was a huge success and saw participation from students across all years. The competition was held across three battlegrounds – Badminton, Table Tennis, and Basketball.
The participants showed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the event. The competition was intense and the matches were closely contested, with each player giving their best to come out on top.
The Intra Department Sports not only provided an opportunity for students to showcase their athletic abilities but also helped in building a sense of community within the department. Such events help in promoting a healthy lifestyle and contribute to the holistic development of students.

CSEA Inaugural Ceremony
Date : 14 December 2022
The Computer Science and Engineering Association (CSEA) held its inaugural ceremony on 14th December 2022 at Bose Hall. The event was a grand success and was attended by distinguished guests, including Prof. N V Ramana Rao Garu, Director NITW, who was the chief guest, and Professor P Ravikumar, Dean Student Welfare NIT Warangal, who was the guest of honor. DR S Ravichandra, HOD of CSE, was also present at the event.
The ceremony was presided over by Professor R Padmavathy, one of the faculty advisors of CSEA, and Doctor USN Raju, the treasurer of CSEA.
The event also included a speech by the chief guest, Prof. N V Ramana Rao Garu, who spoke about the importance of computer science and engineering in today's world and the role that students can play in shaping the future. He also congratulated the CSEA team for organizing the event and wished them success in their future endeavors.
The guest of honor, Professor P Ravikumar, also addressed the gathering and shared his insights on the growth opportunities in the field of computer science and engineering. He also appreciated the efforts of CSEA in promoting technical education and providing a platform for students to showcase their skills.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks.

Gradvine Seminar
The webinar on "[Masters/MBA abroad] How to Crack your Dream admit?" in collaboration with CSE Association NITW was an enlightening session that provided a comprehensive understanding of the paths available after an undergrad in India, how to choose the right course for your master's, and the best countries to pursue Masters/MBA as per your area of interest.
The speaker, Suraj Peri, Co-founder Gradvine, who is a Chemical engineer from CBIT in Hyderabad and an alumnus of Carnegie Mellon University, shared his insights on how admission committees evaluate profiles, career opportunities, growth, and ROI after each degree, and the eligibility for courses, application timeline, and requirements for fall/spring.
The event was conducted offline on the NITW campus and organized by the CSE Association, making it accessible to students who were interested in pursuing their master's or MBA abroad. The session was informative and interactive, allowing the attendees to ask questions and get their doubts clarified.
Overall, the webinar provided valuable insights to the students who were planning to pursue their master's or MBA abroad and helped them to understand the admission process better.

Women's Week
CSEA, in collaboration with Lean In, organized Women’s Week in efforts to encourage and improve female participation in college events.
We started the participants off in teams to decipher puzzles, crosswords and propose alternate endings to sci-fi movies. On the second day, the combination of a model-building session and their brilliant minds made for some ingenious ideas and convincing pitches. We rounded up with a webinar by Ms Padma Kuppa, a former member of the Michigan house of representatives and a NITW alumnus.
Among all who participated some showed extraordinary talent on the first and second day of the event. We congratulate them and appreciate everyone's participation.
